June 2019 – 2 Rue Kervégan, Nantes, France
Now, this one is definitely a metal bar! Look, they even have an Iron Maiden flag on the ceiling. 🙂

We were there the day after Hellfest, so it was pretty busy. I don’t imagine it’s always this packed on a Monday, but I did get the feeling that the music and the crowd were not out of character for the place.
They even had a French micro brew. The brewery is called Atlantique Boissons Nantes, so I’m assuming it’s brewed in the city.

Another neat thing they had was an electronic darts board. The thing records your points automatically when you throw the dart. I’ve never seen that before. Here is an awkward picture of it, with some girl in the foreground. 😀 You can also see more of that sweet tartan wallpaper.

Overall, Nantes just struck me as a really cool city. I’m sure being there with the Hellfest crowd made a difference, but there were so many interesting restaurants and bars, and people out using the parks and green spaces. It is not a city that would have been on my radar otherwise, so congrats Hellfest it looks like you weren’t a complete waste after all!
They also have this Les Machines de l’île, a museum with giant mechanical animals. They were closed the day we went, because everything is closed in Europe on Mondays, but the elephant is outside so we got to see that. How cool is this? Apparently you can go for rides on it.

Also, they have a castle!!

Really, one can ride in it. Neat indeed. Perhaps they should walkmit over to the metal pub😊
