June 2019 – Grodzka 42, 33-332, Krakow, Poland
Not sure what’s going on with the multiple names here, but I am sure of one thing… this place is metal as fuck. It is nearly impossible to find, even though it’s right on a busy street. There is just a small, and very easy to miss, sign marking it. You have to go down some dark and rather intimidating stairs into the basement.
Once inside, the bar is the textbook definition of dank. It’s like a cavern with rock walls, and has that permanent musty/mildew smell. Fortunately or unfortunately, I’m not sure which, you can smoke down there so the smell is usually covered up, and there is a visible haze adding to the vibe.

There’s lots of cool murals on the walls, and some interesting art scattered throughout. You can kind of see the fake unicorn head on the wall in the photo above. It was made out of rows of cardboard or something.

There was an area in the front of the bar with a small stage, so I assume they have shows here sometimes. I feel like the place would be beyond muggy if you got a real crowd in there, but I’d like to find out!
They had Motorhead on the first night we were there (of course), and a Polish metal band that everyone was singing along to the second night.

The beer selection was great. There were a few on tap, but also a fridge full of bottles and cans of Polish micros. All the bottles had pretty cool labels and names, presumably chosen specifically for this reason. All the ones I tried were good as their labels. 🙂

I loved this bar, and would definitely be a regular there if it was in my home town!

Perhaps i should not add my own memories, but a few weeks after you were there, I visited area at night. No bars for me …
