June 2018 & June 2019 – 33 Kentish Town Rd, Camden Town, London, England
Now we come to the third, and my favourite, bar we visited in Camden. This might actually be one of my favourites overall actually. That would be a fun and challenging list to make.
For how many beers I logged here, I have alarmingly terrible photos.
It’s very dive-y and the walls, the ceiling, and every available surface are completely covered with posters, stickers, guitar picks, etc.
I described it as “Swan like” on Untappd, which is about as glowing a review as I can give. I will reference the Swan, my favourite metal bar, often but will probably put off writing about it until last.

There’s a pub like area in the front and a stage in the back of the room. I always sit at the bar here though. 😁

They have the usual array of shite English beers, and the odd cider. Thankfully, they also have Hobgoblin and Trooper on cask so I only have one decision to make!

One of my favourite exchanges ever took place with a bartender here. First some background info. I have a bit of a glassware collection. I generally try to acquire this glassware honestly first. Usually the server/bartender will just say add it to the tip, and most microbreweries will sell theirs. If I can’t acquire it legitimately, then into the purse it goes.
So I was drinking from this fantastic “Official Beer of Halloween” Hobgoblin pint glass, and decided to enquire about it. The following conversation ensued:
Me: What if I wanted to acquire this glass? Bartender: You shouldn’t have asked. Me: I like to try to do things the right way first. Bartender: Sometimes the right way isn’t the “right” way. Me: I even brought my Stealin’ Purse! Bartender: If you’re not a stealin’ person, you’re at the wrong bar. Me: No, I said I brought my Stealin’ Purse. Bartender: It’s called a handbag, my dear.
In the end he not only said to take the Hobgoblin glass, but gave me a Trooper one as well. See, it always pays to ask first!

There are my pint glasses. And I also bought this fabulous hoodie.

Love your exchange with the Barman. Handbag indeed!
