November/December 2007 – A un costado de Santa Domingo, Oaxaco, Mexico

So, I was here over a decade ago, and this place isn’t even open anymore. But this was so random I had to include it.

I remembered there being a goth/rock/alternative bar in Oaxaca that I hung out at a lot, but it was so long ago I couldn’t recall the name. I tried Google, but it’s been closed so long there’s no record of it.

Then a few weeks ago I was going through a box of postcards, entrance tickets etc. I have from trips and I came across this card. La Divina! I mapped the address, and it’s exactly where I remember it, across from the church.

I spent about 3 weeks in Oaxaca, and came here many times. My friend and I always sat at the bar, and I would order a mezcal. It was such a great mezcal and I wanted to be able to find it again, so the night before I was set to leave I asked to see the bottle. The bartender pulls a jerrycan from behind the bar. I’d been drinking the ghetto roadside stuff that whole time! I’m lucky I didn’t go blind! 😂😂😂

Here is a pic I took of the church it’s across from. This would have been taken from pretty much right outside the bar!

  1. That is such a cool entry! I loved reading it. It is a new angle on travel. What a shame there is no way to sent it flying about for all to read.
