December 2019 – 100 metros despues de La Metro Via Argentina, Ciudad de Panamá, Panama
First off, can we acknowledge how amazing that address is?
I wish that I had taken more pictures of the bar itself. It’s basically a tree house in the middle of the city. The walls are all open, with foliage at the back and bar style seating overlooking the street at the front. There were a few tables as well, but I can’t see the place holding more than 25 people.
There is a small restaurant downstairs, and you can order food from them to bring up to the pub.

When we arrived the bartender immediately brought over samples of each of their 4 beers for us to try. As with most of the microbreweries we tried in Panama, the beer was fantastic. My favourite was oddly the mint stout. I’m not usually a fan of that flavour combination, and it’s not the first thing you’d think to drink in 32 degree heat, but somehow it just worked.
Some of the beers have cool names like Skaters Red IPA, Antisocial Blonde, Quimera Mocha Mint Stout (my fave!), Bloodshed Double Red, Anarquia Red Fruit Stout, & True Hardcore Double Black IPA.

The music upstairs was mostly mellow punk, which fit with the tree house thing. I recall hearing a lot of Sublime and the Ramones. They host metal shows in conjunction with a restaurant down the street called Murphy’s California Kitchen. The brewery also seems to do some events in collaboration with Hangar 18, the main metal bar in Panama City that I wrote about previously.

So, funny story. While writing this I was looking at the Instagram feed for Animal Brew and I came across the post below. Look familiar?

They totally used my photo off of Untappd! Ha ha ha. Awesome, hey?
So cool that your picture was used. Make sure they see this site so they can have a laugh.
